Investigation of Metal Powder Injection into a Combustion Chamber by Large Eddy Simulation for Power to X Studies

The numerical modeling and simulation of particle dispersion during the filling process a tubular combustion chamber are presented. By means multiphase large eddy simulations (LES) distribution inside circular diffuser-reactor is studied to analyze two-phase flow dynamics for metal powder in reactor with flame propagation. Typical accumulations found that form close wall also particles tend segregate preferentially concentrate at vortex surfaces bands. Particle segregation accumulation effects aside structures analyzed using LES approach. causes inhomogeneities measures its reduction by changes design discussed. Alterations diffuser geometry adapted minimize central jet formation process.
